El Palmar, on the Costa de la Luz is the paradise for surfers. It is one of the best beach breaks in Andalusia.

This beach is not very well known as kitespot, but surely, as in all the beaches of Tarifa and its surroundings you will find a very good wind and you will be able to sail with good waves.

  • The best months are between October and May
  • Fine and soft sand. To the side of the lighthouse Torre Nueva, rocks in the water and sand

  • Winter: 16 to 18 °C
East wind (Levante)
  • Can get gusty
  • Usually is side off shore
  • It is not that strong like in Tarifa

 El Palmar has the best waves of Andalusia
 Wide beach to launch and land your kite
 On no wind days, lots of other activities
 Webcams with view of the beach

 On weekends and most of all in summer, this spot can get very crowded
 It is 45 min drive from Tarifa
 This village has some restaurants, 3 small supermarkets and a pharmacy
 In high season this spot can get crowded (July and August)

  • Rio Jara – With Poniente for all levels, not so crowded spot
  • Agua and Waves – For all levels with Poniente or Levante with rescue boats
  • Valdevaqueros – Safest beach with Levante, good thermal wind, lots of events like world championship
  • Bolonia –  There is less wind in days of heavy Levante in Tarifa
  • Caños de Meca – Known for its waves, 45 mins outside of Tarifa
